Tradical® Hemcrete® is a versatile hemp and lime building material that can be used in insulating wall construction for buildings with high thermal performance. It offers a sustainable solution with its unique ability to lock CO² into the structure of buildings, potentially saving millions of tonnes of CO² emissions every year. A benefit that combined with excellent thermal performance in use can help deliver better than zero carbon buildings. The product has been developed by Lhoist, with UK production and distribution being delivered in partnership with Lime Technology, Castle Cement and Hemcore. Tradical® Hemcrete® has been specified for new build projects including Three Gardens housing development in Elmswell, Adnams Brewery Distribution Centre in Suffolk and the Centre for Alternative Technology Wales Institute for Sustainable Education (CATWISE) project in Wales. The product is gaining industry recognition due to its potential to help meet targets on carbon emissions and up to code level six in the Code for Sustainable Homes.
