| Bosnian Company Develops New Wind TechnologyPosted on 23/07/2010 Turbina IPG, a small wind turbine manufacturer from Republika Srpska (Federation of Bosnia & Herzegovina), and VAWT patent holder, is seeking investments to expand its business. The company plans to offer its stock to the public, in order to raise funding for further growth.
Turbina IPG's plans include the expansion of its team and launching of a mass production facility to accommodate the regional market for small utility VAWT turbines, most likely to be used by mobile network operators. The turbines would be installed at the mobile signal relay station poles, generating electricity to power the stations whenever possible, and reduce the operators' dependence on fossil fuels in remote areas.
What makes Turbina IPG's technology special is the combination of wind and solar energy – wind turbine components can be made from solar panels, doubling as wind turbine blades, which enables the machine to generate electricity from both wind and the sun. The company boasts the turbine's quiet operation, no vibrations, ease of transport and assembly, and cheap production costs. The turbine is also safe for people and wildlife (birds). The technology has received an award at the Energy Innovation Awards in Manchester, UK this year in the Best International Trade category.
Their turbine may prove to be very useful for mobile operators in the Balkan region, where operators are faced with mountainous terrain, usually hard to reach. Having a sustainable power source for their substations will save lots of money, and reduce carbon emissions. |
