Honda To Expand Solar SectorPosted on 13/08/2010 Honda’s wholly-owned solar cell subsidiary Honda Soltec plans to expand its photovoltaic module business outside Japan to maintain pace with an environment of increasing demand.
The company recently introduced a new line of solar cell modules to meet the diversified needs of its customers including a power conditioner with a rated output of 5.5kW and two residential modules with higher outputs than previous modules, now up to 130W.
It has also advanced its solar cell production technology, achieving solar energy conversion efficiency of 11.6 per cent, which is the highest among copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) solar cells currently being sold in Japan.
Honda Soltec began to produce and sell solar cell modules for residential use in 2007 and for public and industrial use in 2008.
To date, Honda Soltec said it has sold residential-use solar cell modules to approximately 2,250 homes through home builders and contractors.
The company has also installed public and industrial-use solar cells to approximately 120 buildings including Hanshin Koshien Stadium, warehouses of logistics centres and hospitals. |
